Microdosing Magic Mushrooms: Becoming a Better You
What is Microdosing?
The Cosmic Machine awaits us all...
Microdosing is simply the act of consuming sub-perceptual amounts of a psychedelic substance. Some of these include LSD, DMT, and Peyote, but in this instance, I will be talking about Psilocybin Mushrooms, as this is the substance I have the most personal experience with. After psilocybin experiment #1, I was left with this feeling of love, interconnectedness, and the overwhelming need to be around people that I love. I wondered how I could keep this feeling going without having to dive into the depths of a full-blown psychedelic trip every week or two, and my research brought me right into the world of microdosing. My reading and studying brought me to a very curious and highly intelligent mycologist named Paul Stamets who has some very interesting lectures on the matter. His meeting with Joe Rogan where he shares some of his personal psychedelic experience is worth a listen. With my fruits acquired, scale in hand, I started taking .05-.1 grams of psilocybin cubensis (most common species of mushroom) every third day, and the results have been astounding.
But What is the Science?
So far, what we understand about psychedelics is that they work like (and mimic) one of the brain's most important neurotransmitters: Serotonin. This precious little molecule is important for many processes in the brain including overall well-being and happiness. One of the more curious natures of psychedelics is that classic psychedelic molecules (LSD molecule, Psilocybin Molecule) very closely resemble the serotonin molecule in their structure. Another curious nature of psychedelics is that since they mimic serotonin, they stimulate a serotonin receptor called 5-HT2A, which is located in the prefrontal cortex (which just so happens to be just behind our "third eye." Coincidence? I think not). Stimulation of this receptor in the prefrontal cortex leads to brain growth, connection, and activity, and also leads to increased memory, cognition, and learning. Lastly, another curious nature of psychedelics (and personally my favorite!) is that it causes sections of your brain that don't normally communicate- to start communicating with each other. This is arguably the most important factor for psychedelics, as this can lead to new neural connections allowing people to defeat cognitive ailments such as depression, psychological addiction, anxiety, PTSD, stuttering, etc. The war on drugs that started back in the 1960s and 70's completely obliterated any sort of legitimate scientific research on the benefits of psychedelic use, and even though we are seeing somewhat of a renaissance on the matter, we still have so much more to learn.
A New Me
After much research, contemplation, and intention-setting, I started microdosing and noticed the effects almost immediately. I became infinitely more empathetic to the world around me. I was feeling love and connectedness for everyone and everything and nothing could get me down. I started dancing more, singing more, and just smiling all the time. It gave me this surge of willpower to always want to be the best version of me, and I also started dressing better and talking to my family more. I was seeing and feeling love in everything. I have almost completely forgotten what it's like to be angry. Traffic? Smiling. Waiting room? Smiling. Mother chastising me? Smiling. My productivity also skyrocketed, when I started micro-dosing 8 months ago, I had about a year left to complete my Master's Degree. Micro dosing weirdly helped me want to work hard and reach any goal that set for myself. I couldn't feel comfortable with myself unless I gave every ounce of effort for the day. I graduated a month ago. Granted, I went into micro-dosing with all of these intentions set and I implore every one of you to do the same. Also, I set the stage, so to speak, with a fairly large macro dose of panaleous cyanescens before I started to micro-dose and the feelings that I speak of started with that macro dose. Microdosing only helped me keep the feeling I gained from the macro dose going, and its been 8 months with no sign of stopping. There is still so much scientific research to be done on psychedelic use, and every person should proceed with caution. But in my personal experience, psilocybin mushrooms can really help you become a much better you.
The Cosmic Machine awaits us all...
Sweet! Thanx.
