Micro-dosing Magic mushrooms in nature: A natural combination, and views from a first timer.

Micro dosing has slowly made its way into the routines of many people across the planet, from the college student to business professional. Psychedelics have fortuitously made their way back into the limelight of scientific research, with magic mushrooms being one of the major players. Most of the evidence we have today of the beauty, magic, and the life-changing qualities of these substances are still anecdotal, but none the less, the majority has spoken.

Usually, when I microdose, it's early in the morning before work with the intent of increasing my empathy, awareness, and productivity throughout the day, but unaware I was of the euphoria that awaited me in the mountains, hills, and forests. My friend and I decided one day to rearrange our dose schedule to allow for a weekend dose while hiking. We dubbed it: The Mushroom Hike, and it turned out to be amazing. Micro dosing, in my experience, allows me to enjoy being in the moment, increases my empathy, increases my awareness and allows me to perceives situations in ways that I wouldn’t normally; usually in a more loving way. All of these benefits from micro-dosing are amazing when taken with the purpose to increase workflow and realize/change aspects about myself, but when taken in nature (I usually hike) something is awaken deep in my being; a connection to our mother earth that I believe was/is always there, but shadowed by our everyday experiences and just our general and gradual disconnect from the universe.

Before hiking through the Marin headlands today with a special someone, we decided that we (her first time) would take a microdose of magic mushrooms at the trailhead. Admittedly, being the psychonaut that I am, I dosed before we even left the house, but I totally dosed again right before the start of my psychedelic adventure with her. About 30 minutes in, she told me she felt really good, and I could tell because the giggles were starting and she was smiling wide. She decided to take a little more (in total about .3 grams) and after a while, she and I both agreed that the colors of the rolling green Marin hills were more pronounced, and even the ocean had a wonderful blue hue that added to its majesty.

Pronounced colors weren’t the only element of our psychedelic trek. When we got down to the secluded beach that marked our halfway point, and after wading in the chilled waters of the pacific, we laid down in the sand and a feeling of content, oneness with the earth, and joy overcame her and I. We laid there in euphoric bliss, giggling like school children, and just enjoying being where the elements meet. We had the sun, the wind, the land, the ocean, and each other. Nothing else that mattered at that moment but the sound of the waves, the feeling of sand between my toes, and the scent of salt in the cool breeze.

Granted, I would have felt all of these feelings without the mushrooms, but they have a way of making the moment just that more enjoyable. One of the most exciting aspects of these mushrooms is that they grow naturally and are not synthesized, so it would only make sense that taking them in nature would be a wonderful combination. The earth is a living organism just as we are, and she provides everything we need. I implore all readers to try a microdose while walking through nature and let the energy of Gaia fill you with joy.
